- ISABEL HINAM
ISABEL HINAM (nee Halliday) It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother on October 19, 2009 at the age of 93. Isabel will be dearly missed by her children Kathryn Halliday (Al) and Bill Hinam (Marg) of Nova Scotia and Irene Hinam of Winnipeg. Also left to cherish her memory are her five grandchildren Krista, Mark, Lauren, Diane and Todd; her five great grandchildren; her brother Doug; and sister-in-law Vera. Isabel was born in Winnipeg on November 1, 1915. She attended Kelvin High School and worked at Picardy's for ten years. On April 17, 1943, she married Morris, her loving husband of 50 years. Together they raised their family on Greenwood Place. Many fond memories were created during camping holidays with her family and her trips to Hawaii, Mexico and Europe with Morris. Isabel also enjoyed her girls club, her bridge club, bowling and curling. She served as president of the ladies league at Thistle Curling Club. She was an active member of Chalmers United Church and served as Treasurer for many years. Mom and Dad's home was always warm and welcoming. They loved to entertain their friends and their children's friends. Isabel was thoughtful and encouraging and many sought her gentle wisdom. Isabel loved her life and was often heard saying, If I had to live my life over again, I wouldn't change a thing. The family would like to thank the staff of Calvary Place for the care and kindness shown to Isabel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Place, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 2S6 or to a charity of choice. Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
